Use Best Buy Price Match from Staples on iPad Deal for Discover/Apple Pay Insanity!

Update: One reader points out that Staples accepts Apple Pay, that is another place to buy the iPads.  Since you can't buy $10,000 at once, you can go to both stores.

Chuck over at Doctor of Credit reported today that some Best Buy's are now starting to accept Apple Pay.

This leads us to our first Discover/Apple Pay insanity deal.

Earlier this week I reported a wonderful iPad deal at Staples.com.  iPad Air 2s are $150 off. I normally like to price match from Best Buy to Staples because of portals, Chase Ink and extremely generous Staples Rewards.

Let's do the reverse today, let's pricematch from Staples to Best Buy.

Does it work?  Here is the language from the Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee.

We won't be beat on price.

We'll match the product prices of key online and local competitors.

The Details:
  • At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices) and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com.

The bold part is where we are going for.  Staples should be considered a local retailer (assuming there is one locally).  The iPad Air 2 deal at Staples is only found online for the 64GB version.  The 16GB version is found in the circular so you could pick up a circular and bring it just in case.  Based on their guarantee, they should match Staples online price.

So you will be forfeiting 5x Ultimate Rewards, up to 5% Staples Rewards, but earning up to 2.5% Best Buy Rewards and 22% from Discover.  Not too shabby!  I'm heading over to Best Buy once that iPhone comes through to check it out!

Here's the hitch:  They may not have any in stock, they may limit how many you can buy with the price match or the manager may decided to deny the pricematch even if it is legitimate, but if it works out, it's gold!
