Updates on Groupon iPad Deal

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  Mr. Rebates, Be Frugal, Ebates, Top Cashback

On Friday, I wrote about a Groupon deal to resell iPads minis (first generation).  Here are a couple of updates:

  • The deal was extended for another 10 days!
  • I'm not sure why, but my order was cancelled.  I'll have to rebuy today

  • I can confirm that Mr. Rebates portal did indeed payout 8% on Friday.
Unfortunately, the payout went down to 6% now :(

  • Here are some new options for portals and ways to pay

    • Portals
      • Mr. Rebates, Be Frugal and Ebates are all paying a solid 6% ($54).  Mr. Rebates did not pay out 8% for any taxes.  That should be the same for all of them.

      • Silly me, I forgot about Discover!  Discover Deals is 5% on Groupon.  When that gets doubled after 13 months, that would be a whopping 10% payout ($90)!
        • You can apply for a Discover card from anyone's referral link and you will earn $50 now and $50 at the end of 13 months. Your referrer will get the same.  If you get referred, make sure to refer your spouse for your 2nd card.
        • Here is my referral link, feel free to comment with your own referral links.

    • Ways to Pay
      • If you are using Discover Deals, I recommend using your Discover card.  You are more likely to get a manual adjustment if there is a problem later.

      • Big Habitat mentioned a great idea.  You can buy Groupon eGift cards at Staples with your Chase Ink to get 5x Ultimate Rewards (delivered the next day) and then come back through a portal to get your 6% or 10%.  You can also buy Groupon Gift Cards at the Supermarket for Fuel Points or on eBay through Paypal Digital Gifts and you should get 5x Chase Ink points and 1.1% from Top Cashback and qualify for more eBay Bucks as well.  Wow, that's pretty amazing!
